"THREE FELLS" SNOWMOBILE SAFARI

Are you interested in learning to drive a snowmobile? Or even if you are an experienced driver, this is a good way to see the fell area of Lapland. We will ride along various trails through the beautiful wintry landscape and if you are lucky, you might see some reindeer searching for food.

SNOWMOBILE SAFARI TO THE REINDEER FARM

We drive by snowmobile to a genuine Lapp reindeer farm, where we become familiar with the reindeer and the herdsman himself. We take a drive with the reindeer and receive "Reindeer driver’s licence". After enjoying a hot cup of coffee or berry juice at the farm, we return to village on board snowmobiles through the snow-covered forests.

WILDERNESS SAFARI & ICE-FISHING

This is one of our most fascinating safaris if you are up for the challenge! The safari brings out the best of Lapland’s wild side. We drive by snowmobiles along frozen rivers and through snowy landscape to a peaceful wilderness lake. Once we arrive, we try our luck with traditional ice fishing. A Lapp-style outdoor lunch is served by the campfire. We return to Saariselkä in the afternoon on board snowmobiles. The driving distance is approx. 75 - 100 km.

NIGHT SAFARI ON SNOWMOBILE

As the snowy forests and fells call us from the night sky, we will leave the lights of Saariselkä and drive by snowmobile into the wilderness. While taking a break our    guide will prepare a tasty snack by an open fire. We will then continue with our journey to the top of a fell where we can enjoy the special atmosphere and silence of  Lappish nature. If we are lucky, we might see the  northern lights – Aurora Borealis - dancing in the sky. Return to Saariselkä on board snowmobiles.

ON THE REINDEER MAN’S TRACKS

A reindeer safari gives you a hint of the life in the old days in Lapland. After dressing into warm thermal overalls we, will be transported to the starting point of the reindeer safari. We harness the reindeer and sitting in a sledge pulled by reindeer we will ride through the beautiful landscape in the middle of the snowy forests. Travelling with reindeer is a unique way to experience the grand arctic nature. We will enjoy a cup of Finnish-style coffee with cookies by campfire and guide will tell you stories about reindeer husbandry. Before leaving back to the village you will receive a Reindeer Driver´s Licence and a booklet about reindeer husbandry in Finnish Lapland.

HIKING TRIP TO THE FELLS WITH SNOWSHOES

Geared up and ready to go, we will begin the trip with snowshoes. We will head into the white, peaceful landscape at the Urho Kekkonen National Park. While taking a break every now and then, you can simply listen to the silence of the surrounding wilderness. We will also enjoy a cup of hot juice and after this relaxing moment we will return to the safari office.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING TRIP

Are you interested in learning the secrets of cross country skiing? Or if you are more experienced skier, this is a good opportunity to improve your skiing skills. First of all, you will need to get geared up for this adventure: skis, poles, shoes, and outdoor clothing will be provided. Our guides will lead you to the trails and teach you the basic skiing techniques. We will ski in the wintry silence of the forest and return back to the safari office after approx.
2-hour trip. Hot juice will be served during the trip.

HUSKY SAFARI

After dressing into warm thermal overalls we will be transported to husky safari starting point. There dozens of huskies will greet you with their howling and yapping, and the Husky Man himself tells you about training and caring for these wonderful animals. After harnessing the dogs, you will leave for a safari with them. You can enjoy the wilderness of Lapland by sitting in a husky sledge among the warm reindeer pelts. A cup of coffee or hot juice will be served around open fire. After the safari transportation back to your hotel.
